Food is one of the most important aspects of any successful event. On one of the most special days of your life, it’s imperative you build a team of wedding professionals that will make your day easy and stress free. This week we will be discussing a number of important questions to ask your wedding caterer before you sign a contract!

#1: Do you provide plates and cutlery?

Lots of caterers will provide cutlery, plates, and some even napkins upon request. It’s important to ask if this a service that is included in your package or if it’s an add on. It’s important to make sure that everyone is on the same page of what will be included with their service so that nothing is left to the imagination, and so that nothing gets forgotten about.

#2: Do you offer set up and take down services for the meal?

Some caterers will stay for the whole dinner and provide table bussing, some will set up and then leave, and others will require someone to pick up. Every caterer is different so it’s important to know what they offer so you can find others to do the set up, take down, and table bussing if you need to.

#3: Do you offer custom menus?

Some caterers will offer to customize a menu for you and your guests, others offer a few options to choose from, and others have specific meals that they specialize in. It’s important to find a caterer that will work with you to make sure that you and your guests are served a meal that you will enjoy.

#4: Is there a difference in plate pricing for children and adults?

If you have a lot of younger children coming to your wedding, it’s very important to find out if your caterer offers different pricing for children. Children typically eat much less than a normal portion, and they are often a bit pickier than adults as well. When food is one of the biggest expenses, the last thing that you want is to pay for food that will not be consumed.

#5: Do you offer a menu tasting?

It’s important to be able to taste your menu before you commit to it for your wedding day. Most caterers include this in their package, but some with charge a sitting fee. I believe that this fee is very worth it if you have to pay it. You don’t want to blindly commit to your wedding food!
