1. Ask for reviews and do your research
Ask friends and family for recommendations based on people they have worked with. Narrow down a few options that have good reviews amongst friends, family, and the internet. If you have any wedding vendors booked you can also ask them for suggestions. Check out their websites and social media to make sure that you like their portfolio and then send them an inquiry! Try to be as specific as you can with details of what you’re looking for in your inquiry. If they don’t have pricing on their website ask them for a list of their services with pricing to look through if they are available on your date so that you can read through it before you meet them in person and sign a contract!

2. Meet them in person
Always make sure to meet with your wedding vendors in person before signing a contract. You’ll be working together very closely to make your dream day a reality! You’ll be communicating with your planner the most out of all of your wedding vendors, so it’s important that you get along with them! In person is also the best place to ask questions that you have for them about their packages, as well as pricing.

3. Ask to see a few sample timelines
Always be sure to ask to see a sample timeline or a few? Get a feel for how they would solve problems that you fear might come up on your day and let them tell you how they would solve the issue and get the schedule back on track.

4. Ask them about their insurance
Ask them what kind of insurance they have and what kinds of things it covers. This way you’ll know if you need to apply for any other type of event insurance or not. Accidents can happen, you always hope to not have to use the insurance, but it’s better to make sure it’s available in case you do need it!

5. Sign a contract
It’s so important to make sure that you sign a contract with your vendors and get everything agreed upon in writing. This way, things are much less likely to go wrong on event day because everyone will know what they are responsible for.
